THE BRIEF
Immediate Media are one of the UK's largest publishers of children’s magazines asked us to come up with some environmental options to the plastic paint your own figurines we produced.
As part of their push to reduce the amount of plastic used in their products we produced these figurines in plaster of Paris. For material the designs needed to be simplified This example was for Ariel from the Little Mermaid.
REFINING THE MODEL
First of all reference imagery is sent by the client laying out the intended design and pose. We work with modelmakers at the factory to produce an initial clay model of the design.
Our purchasing and creative teams work closely with the client and right's owners through several approval rounds until the model approved.
PRODUCTION
After receiving approval from the client and the right's owners a physical mould is produced for mass manufacture.
Additional elements were approved then our normal production process began including quality control (through sample checking and DUPRO/FRI inspections), safety and compliance then fulfilment to the client in the UK.
